A Warm Welcome to PAWUSA
PAWUSA is a registered trade union with members in the Public, Education, Health, Parastatal and Private sectors. Our union has strong roots dating back over many years. The union was started to give public sector workers who had no labour rights access to representation and bargaining.
The union originated as the Public Servants League (PSL) and changed to PAWUSA in 1995.
The restructuring of the union has brought about a new
vision which is based on issues important to our members, e.g..
the accountability of officials; delivering on mandates;
continuation of the struggle for a living wage; protecting jobs;
and free medical aid for HIV/AIDS infected workers.
We are also proudly
affiliated to the Congress Of South African Trade Unions (COSATU),
which is the largest union federation in South Africa with
representation on national and international structures like
NEDLAC.
